India ink: 1. a black pigment consisting of lampblack mixed with glue or size; 2. a liquid ink from this. Also called Chinese ink.
Endia Ink: 1. a design company offering art cards produced from original paintings oftentimes using India ink; 2. a corporation using my own name. Also called Endia Inc.
It all began when I was three and used my crayons to produce my first masterpiece on my bedroom wall. Despite the fact that I was given the impossible chore of washing it off, my interest in art blossomed throughout my childhood and into design school where I applied pigment, charcoal, and certainly India ink, to legitimate canvas.
Several years ago when Andrew and I were married, I finished a special painting which we used as our "Save the Date" card (see gallery). Many wedding invitees actually saved the card and framed it, inspiring me to create a unique card company using my own artwork.
Now my husband and I have adopted 2 children from Guatemala. As you can imagine, we are ecstatic about the arrival of our newest family members, but the process has enlightened us to the hardships and poverty many Guatemalans face on a daily basis. Impacted by a poor economy, nearly 40% of the country lives below poverty level, and many children suffer from malnutrition and inadequate healthcare.
A portion of each purchase will go directly to our Latin American neighbors through a donation to "World in Need Now" at http://www.worldinneednow.org. And to www.buildanest.com, "a nonprofit organization dedicated to changing the lives of women in developing countries".
